General
The regional focus of my journalistic work is
Eastern Africa, particulary Tanzania, Kenya
and Uganda. Through being proficient in
Swahili, a language which is spoken by most
of the people in this region, I am able to get into direct interaction
with the local communities.
My specialist area is human
beings and their living realities, therefore
anything that is socially relevant is a potential
topic. Told from the point of view of the individual and being put
into a larger global, historical, political and
social context.
I like to be lead by the things I see in order to
find my topics. Cultures are constantly
moving and therefore always changing. There are always new exciting
phenomena to discover, when keeping one's
eyes open. To save myself a intuitive approach is imperativley necessary to do the
kind of stories I am writing. The story
itself can lead me in a different direction I was expecting before.
Also I could
establish a Network within Eastern Africa during
my previous residences there. This helps me
in approaching my topics and getting in
contact with the locals.
